Dr Jorinde van Laanen studied medicine at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. She also completed her training as a general and vascular surgeon there. At the MUMC +, she did a fellowship to study complex vascular surgery and in particular, the treatment of deep venous abnormalities. After completing the Fellowship, she stayed as a vascular surgeon at the MUMC +.

Dr van Laanen's special areas of focus are deep venous (stent) treatments and kidney transplants. She is conducting doctoral research into deep venous abnormalities and is involved in the development of an international guideline for the treatment of these abnormalities.
